Targets for 2030

The European Union (EU) is actively striving to expedite the adoption of renewable energy sources as part of its efforts to achieve the ambitious target of reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030.

With the energy sector accounting for over 75% of the EU's greenhouse gas emissions, increasing the share of renewable energy across various sectors of the economy is considered a vital component in attaining the EU's energy and climate objectives.

These objectives encompass cutting greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% compared to 1990 levels by 2030, as well as ultimately transforming the continent into a climate-neutral entity by 2050.

The REPowerEU plan calls for a rapid acceleration of the transition to clean energy by 2030.
