MISSION EARTH, four episode of the NatPower Podcast
Two billion people around the world currently live without access to water or with access that does not meet basic hygienic conditions.
UNEP, the United Nations Environment Programme, has identified the water crisis as ‘the most serious multiplier of security threats in the world’. Lack of access to safe water causes health emergencies, social tensions and armed conflicts in many parts of the world, and exacerbates gender inequalities.
While many regions of the world struggle with these challenges, the misconception that water is a free resource still prevails in richer, developed countries. This myth is dangerous because it encourages waste and a lack of awareness about sustainable water management.
To learn more, you can listen to the new episode of MISSIONE TERRA, in which Angelica De Vito and Luciano Canova talk about the importance of recognising that water is a precious and finite resource, and that its sustainable management should be a priority for everyone, regardless of a country’s level of development. The episode is called Water is available for free on all listening apps.
